Aubrey Thornton, LCSW, MSW is a therapist at Aspire Center for Positive Change where she works with children, adults, and families for a variety of mental health concerns. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Aurora University with a special education minor and earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams College of Social Work with a concentration in schools. After interning with Chicago Public Schools she earned a Professional Educator License with a School Social Work endorsement. Aubrey has experience working with students ranging from pre-kindergarten through post-secondary. Aubrey has years of experience implementing Critical Service Learning, connecting project-based learning with social emotional learning both in-person and virtual settings. She has also worked with other clinicians, teachers, and support staff to encourage building voice and choice in youth led projects. Her passion is working with individuals experiencing adversity, especially individuals with disabilities and empowering them to become self-advocates. She has served as a speaker at local conferences and a guest lecturer at a local university.
