Heidii Poplick is social worker in the Caregiver Support Program at the Fargo VAMC. She assumed this position in October of 2020. Prior to that she was with the Healthcare for Homeless Veterans at the Fargo VA working as a HUD/VASH Case Manager. In addition to her current duties she also is the Co-Chair of the SEPM for Women on the VA Diversity Council. She has also worked at the Village providing Family therapy as well as individual and couple’s counseling. Heidii has had diverse life experiences prior to becoming a social worker. She entered the Army and was lucky enough to be stationed in Germany. After her discharge she was sent to Norway with her husband who was still active duty and was fortunate to be able to work for the State Department at the Embassy in Oslo. After her return to the states, she led many family support groups and coordinated activities for single soldiers. Heidii also worked for the Medical College of Georgia as a research project coordinator and it was there that she had the opportunity to work with two wonderful social workers in the pediatric hematology/oncology department. They inspired her with their compassionate and professional care. It was at that moment that she thought that she would like to do something like that with her own career. After cancer treatment, she found herself looking for a more meaningful career and it was at that moment she came to the social work field and found where she had truly belonged all along.
